Airside Planner

Our airport planners work with clients to solve today’s demands and to anticipate future needs. We develop creative planning and operational solutions that balance traffic growth, evolving airline strategy and commercial demands with changing regulatory policy and competing land use and environmental requirements. We employ a highly analytical approach to problem definition and solution development, based on an in-depth understanding of airport and airline operations and an appreciation of airports as commercial businesses and public assets. Our business is growing along with our track record of exceptional aviation projects.

We are seeking an experienced Senior or Intermediate level Airside Planner to join the Aviation Planning group in our Toronto office.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Work independently or with minimal supervision on airside planning tasks, including:
  • Stands and apron planning
  • Airfield planning
  • Aircraft bridging and servicing
  • Aircraft movement simulations
  • Obstacle Limitation Surface (OLS) studies
  • Interface and work with clients and relevant design disciplines on airport facilities design projects
  • Contribute to airport and terminal master planning projects
  • Prepare reports and presentations
  • Provide input on proposals and other business development opportunities 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or College degree required in Architecture, Civil Engineering or Transport Planning
  • Strong CAD (MicroStation is preferred), MS Excel and PathPlanner simulation software skills
  • Intermediate level MS Word and MS Power Point skills
  • A minimum 8 years’ experience in airside planning, design, operations or a related field and a desire to build a long term airside planning and consulting career.
  • Professional experience and awareness of today’s aviation industry, including the aircraft technology and servicing, airside planning, design, construction, operation, and regulation of airports.
  • Knowledge of and experience in delivering airside planning work to meet international policies, regulations, and airport planning standards is required. (ICAO / IATA, FAA and other country-specific).
  • Verbal and written fluency in English is essential. Fluency in French or Spanish is an asset.

Other qualifying skills, knowledge and abilities:

  • Airport Master Planning and Terminal Design/Planning
  • Advanced knowledge of CAD and graphics software packages, including 3D
  • Good presentation skills
  • MS Excel basic programming
  • Ability to multi-task be flexible in an environment where work load fluctuates
  • Be team oriented and support others during fluctuations in workflow
  • Advanced understanding of aircraft technology and operations, including aircraft servicing equipment
  • Ability to work independently and in a team
  • A strong candidate will take ownership and be highly organized
