Associate : Highways Design Manager

We are truly global, and our 14,000 planners, designers, engineers and consultants around the world deliver innovative projects with creativity and passion. Due to the growth of our business and an expanded portfolio of projects, an exciting opportunity exists for a highly motivated Highway Design Manager to join our team. As part of the Australasian Transport & Resources team, this role covers a broad range of skills relating to Highways field.   The primary focus of this role is to contribute to developing the Highways field services of our business, supporting our clients and building a profitable Transport & Resources team.  

 

The Highway Design Manager will undertake design, project management and consulting services within Highways field, in order to enhance the team’s portfolio of skills and expertise.   In addition, the successful candidate will: 

 

Key Accountabilities


  • You will be responsible for the overall performance of projects and the people that work within them, promoting co-operation between teams to enable effective utilisation of resources;
  • You will set and meet agreed budgets and deadlines.  In addition, you will be accountable for managing the financial performance of specified areas;
  • You will be responsible for the development and implementation of longer term strategic plans that will benefit the business;
  • You will be required to procure work and negotiate contracts and agreements with customers and suppliers.
  • You will deliver projects of excellence including compliance with the appropriate technical standards and specifications
  • You will be responsible for communication with our client and other consultants in supporting our projects

 

 

You will have demonstrated:

 

  • Recognised relevant tertiary qualifications in civil engineering (Bachelor degree) or similar area;
  • Proven industry experience in highway design and management within a New Zealand consulting business environment;
  • Proven experience in delivery of significant roading infrastructure within a multitude of contracting frameworks (eg: Design and Construct, Alliance etc) within the New Zealand Transport/Roading market
  • Chartership (CPEng NZ) within the relevant professional institutions/professional peer bodies;
  • Established design delivery track record and relationships with NZTA or equivalent road entities in NZ

 

 

With recognised relevant tertiary qualifications in engineering, you will be able to demonstrate your experience in design, project management and implementation in your field, within a consulting business environment.  You will possess demonstrated excellent attention to detail along with high-level verbal and written communication skills.  Additionally, you will have proven working knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations, codes of practice, and guidelines.  The ability to work independently and as part of a team is essential. 

 

Membership of relevant professional institutions/professional peer bodies or significant credit towards eligibility for membership will be highly regarded.
