CFD Analyst (Computational Fluid Dynamics)

The Advanced Technology and Research (ATR) team at Arup San Francisco is looking to hire a candidate with mechanical engineering background. ATR is a multidisciplinary team of structural, mechanical, aeronautical and risk engineers specialized in performance based design. The team is 20+ people strong and very dynamic.

The successful candidate would be primarily working with the Building Physics division on a variety of project types using a combination of analytical skills.

• Wind and thermal comfort modeling in the build environment
• Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) modeling
• Fluid & Structure Interaction (FSI) for flexible structures
• Energy modeling and daylighting
• Design and control system of naturally ventilated buildings
• Pollution and Dispersion modeling
• Tunnel Ventilation Design
• Software development and coding
• Design of moving structures

Currently we are looking for a candidate with a strong background in CFD, ideally with a Masters or PhD in fluid dynamics. Decent coding experience is desirable.

• A masters involving Fluid Dynamics with GPA 3.0 (PhD preferred)
• Solid understanding of thermo-dynamics
• Basics in FEA analysis and structural design
• Coding experience (Any of the listed: VB, C#, Python, Perl, etc.)
• Good writing skills
• Able to work independently with limited supervision
• Willing to craft their own skills and become a specialist
