We are seeking a Cost Engineering Intern for our San Francisco office. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in cost estimating, scheduling, risk analysis and will perform the following:

• Interface in significant manner with Buildings, Infrastructure and Consulting engineers.
• Responsibility for fostering creation of and reporting of cost estimate deliverables to internal and/ or external clients.
• Communicate with external vendors extensively to satisfy all estimate needs.
• Assist with developing project schedules.
• Maintain compliance to the Arup Americas Cost Engineering Support Services (AACESS) formats for data collection and digestion into Arup systems.
• Address, counsel and advise on best approaches, level of detail, WBS, database application, etc of particular deliverables.
• Suggest formats for deliverables that most effectively satisfy the output required by the internal or external client.
• Must have sound knowledge of estimating fundamentals and be capable of producing detailed accurate estimates at schematic, design development and construction document level of design.
• Assure all estimate processes are applied appropriately and within the AACESS QMS.

Job Requirements

• Working towards a Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management or Engineering (Master's preferred) with a sound knowledge of engineering fundamentals
• Relevant internship experience preferred
• Good communication skills essential for team-based working
• Excellent planning and organization skills required for our fast-paced environment
• Must be highly motivated, proactive and willing to take on new challenges

• Experience with commercial estimating and scheduling software such as HCSS, VICO and Primavera P6 is desirable but not required
• Experience with model based scheduling (4D) and estimating (5D) is desirable but not required
