Overview
Arup’s business in Canada is flourishing and is growing rapidly. We are delivering complex and exciting projects and poised to win and deliver more across a range of business areas in Quebec, Ontario and Alberta.
 
We are currently seeking a Technology Consultant with an engineering, systems and/or technology background to work as part of a multidisciplinary team engaged in the delivery of technology and data strategy, design, delivery and assurance for a range of both local and international buildings and infrastructure projects.

Your responsibilities will involve:
  • Delivery of technology / digital masterplans, technology strategy and procurement advice
  • Technical assurance of technology deployments
  • System integration management
  • Design of IT and communication systems including: structured cabling, wired and wireless voice and data networks, healthcare systems, airport systems, CCTV, access control, intercom, public address, control systems and general applications of technology to the built environment.
  • System design calculations, report writing, system specification development and constructing Request For Proposals
  • Post construction services including in some cases system commissioning management
  • Preparation of drawings detailing the systems in AutoCAD, MicroStation and Revit (3D) (with assistance from junior team members)
  • Leading the delivery and management of projects as necessary
Qualified applicants will have the following: 
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science or related technology field.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in the consulting and technology design industries (related engineering disciplines such as Electrical Engineering considered).
  • Demonstrable understanding and experience of technology in the built environment including the challenges of construction and system integration
  • Excellent interpersonal skills will be needed to develop and maintain effective relationships with Clients, Architects, Engineers, Contractors and other team members.
  • Proven ability to work with incomplete information and manage unclear or conflicting requirements
  • Familiar and experienced in working with Microsoft Office products, and drafting tools such as AutoCad, MicroStation  and Revit (3D)
  • Excellent planning and organization skills required for our fast-paced environment, and must be highly motivated, proactive, willing to take on new challenges and learn on the fly
  • Experience of Rail and/or Healthcare technology and process an advantage
  • Experience of technology and/or data master planning an advantage
  • Experience with Ontario Public Private Procurement project methodology an advantage
  • Bilingual French / English an asset
