Transportation Planning Intern Position Available in2018

Duringyour internship at Arup, you’ll have the chance to work with some of the mosthighly respected engineers and specialists in the world. As a Transportation Planning Intern, you will learn and apply thefollowing:

·    Conducting background research on specific locations, strategies or policies

·    Datacollection and analysis

·    Use ofspecialist software packages

·    Completing and documenting technical analyses

·    Reportwriting

·    Attending team, consultant and client meetings

·    Workingwith people from other disciplines to gain knowledge on new subjects.

 

Qualifications:

·    Proveninterest in the fields of transportation engineering and planning

·    Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree with a 3.0 GPA or higher in civilengineering, transportation engineering, transportation planning, or similar

·    A degreein a relevant analytical discipline

·    Coursework in traffice engineering, capacity analysis, and/or transportationmodeling

·    Relevantintern and/or research experience

·    Strongtechnical and analytical skills with an ability to demonstrate attention todetail

·    Goodtime-management habits, ability to multi-task, ability to sustain focus on longtasks

·    Abilityto communicate thoughts and ideas in an accessible way

·    Attitudeof taking initiative, enthusiasm, eagerness to learn, teamwork, creativity.

 

Preferred:

·     Mastersdegree in Transportation Planning or related

·    Membership in at least one relevant professional organization

·    Significant thesis, class project or studio work related to urbantransportation planning, transportation engineering analysis, and/ortransportation land use interface

·    Internship with transportation consulting firm or major transportation agency

·    Evidenceof past internship or extracurricular activity in the field

·    Experience with one or more of thefollowing: Synchro+SimTraffic, Aimsun, Vissim, Paramics, Vistro, SIDRA, and HCS

·    Experience with another analytical or design tools (e.g., ArcGIS, TransCAD,SketchUp, Illustrator, AutoCAD, Microstation, AutoTurn/AutoTrack, SPSS, Arena,etc.)

·    EIT Certification

·    Provenability to perform in a paid work environment with intermittent supervision

·    Pasthistory of presentations and technical writing

·    Evidenceof personal investment in academic or extracurricular field.
