Vertical Transportation Engineer

Role

We are seeking a senior vertical transportation engineer to join a multidisciplinary building engineering design team in London.

The successful candidate will become a permanent member of our creative, friendly group and will work on some of the most exciting buildings in the world.

Our portfolio includes:

• Tour Sisters, Paris.


• 6 to 8 Bishopsgate, London.


• SAMA Gardens, Dubai.


• Agora, Buderpest.


• Mexico International Airport, Mexico.


• The Scalpel, London.


• New Childrens Hospital, Dublin.

The role will require:

• Undertaking vertical transport design for major projects.


• Working closely with principal designers to lead the Vertical Transport Design.


• Managing the production of drawings and reports and preparing lift and escalator specifications.


• Supervising and coordinating the work of others and coordinating work with engineers of other disciplines.


• Attending meetings and communicating with clients to establish their needs.


• Inspecting installations and witness testing on site.


• Managing project team to ensure production of deliverables to agreed timelines and within budget.


• Providing technical guidance and mentoring to junior members of the team.

Requirements and Skills

The successful candidate will have:

Essential Skills and Knowledge

• Demonstrable buildings-focused vertical transport engineering design experience.


• Be able to design and deliver vertical transport solutions on major and/or complex projects.


• A strong analytical knowledge and understanding of engineering principles.


• A desire to work constructively in a team, finding holistic building design solutions in a multidisciplinary environment.


• The ability to communicate clearly, through sketching, speaking and in writing, with client s and design teams.


• Proven experience of undertaking lift and escalator design, using passenger traffic analysis software where appropriate.

• Excellent planning, organisational and time management skills, with a proven ability to work under pressure and to meet strict deadlines.


• An engineering degree, ideally at Masters level.


• Membership of an appropriate professional institution (MCIBSE), and have achieved Chartered status.


• Able to understand the balance of engineering priorities on differing projects.


• Able to quickly develop successful client relationships.

Desirable Skills and Knowledge

• Design experience of working on commercial, residential buildings and hotel projects.


• Experience of working with existing buildings and modernisation of existing lift installations.


• Experience of working to ASME codes.
