Aviation Security Leader

We're looking for an Aviation Security Leader in our New York City office to work as part of a diverse team engaged in improving our aviation client's security and capabilities, including understanding the evolving threat and identifying security and business centric mitigation measures; facilitating compliance with national and international laws and standards; designing assets to optimize security outcomes whilst taking account of the broader airport business including passenger experience and the design of physical and electronic security systems for aviation projects with opportunities to additionally support buildings and infrastructure projects.
•Identifying market and client opportunities, and then pursue those opportunities as direct work or as part of an Arup multi-disciplinary team.
•Refine and lead the delivery of the Americas Region Aviation Security Business Plan.
•Expand our offering in the Americas to provide services similar to that in other regions in support of the global strategy, namely increase advisory service offering.
•Serve as a project manager and/or lead aviation security consultant on active and future projects.
•Understand the current threat, risk and business environment, as well as emerging threats, and the implications of such for clients. This includes committing to Arup's risk-based approach to aviation security.
•Understand regulations and standards and interpret those for projects.
•Promote comprehensive thinking of security and the business benefits for clients.
•Liaise with security agencies, such as TSA, CBP, CATSA, and local law enforcement with jurisdiction.
•Lead and mentor staff providing consulting and engineering guidance as it relates to aviation security.
•Coordinate resourcing of projects and utilization of staff within the region to successfully deliver on projects
•Contribute to Arup's thought leadership by way of writing white papers, delivering presentations and engaging with international organisations.
•Represent Arup at public events such as conferences and Arup's ACI membership.
•10+ years of relevant aviation security experience
•Experience with 49CFR1542, TSA Checkpoint Design Guidelines, Recommended Security Guidelines for Airport Planning and Design and CBP Airport Technical Design Standards, ICAO Annex 9 and 17, and security threat and risk assessment models
•Sound knowledge and experience with the national aviation security legislation, ideally USA.
•Demonstrated knowledge of the aviation threat and risk context and application of that knowledge in an aviation business environment (which may include airports, airlines, the aviation supply chain or government agencies)
•Excellent interpersonal skills will be needed to establish, develop and maintain effective relationships with clients, Government agencies, Architects, Engineers, Contractors and other team members
