Graduate Theatre Consultant
Key Responsibilities / Tasks
To support the programming, design and engineering of performance equipment systems, infrastructure and architectural accommodation for theatres, concert hall, opera houses, dance theatres, business theatres and performance and event venues in collaboration with the theatre design leadership of Arup, the clients, users and stakeholders of venue projects.
•Contribute to the planning and execution of venues and performing arts projects from the outset and through all project stages.
•Provide support of design, specification and non-licensed engineering services for the design components including lighting, performance sound, video and communications and performance machinery and rigging
•Participate in the design and specification of theatre equipment and help plan the building from the perspective of venue operations and production
•Develop and manage specifications, narratives, programs, documentation for performance equipment bid
•Contribute to the development of theatre equipment and construction budgets
•Contribute to compliance with relevant codes and standards
•Review documents incorporating theatre equipment for technical compliance with program and specifications
•Contribute to the integration of theatre equipment in the design of performing arts buildings
•Undertake theatre or architectural lighting equipment commissioning tasks under supervision of the project manager
•Understand, interpret and establish client and project, as well as supervisor/team needs
•Submitting a high quality of work that is accurate of which may take the form of routine letters; reports; standard documentation; presentations, etc
•Providing all information in an articulate and organised manner in a within the agreed timeframes.
•Work on defined design tasks under limited supervision with some autonomy
•Responsible for checking the quality and accuracy of own work.
•Responsible for the effective organisation of information and documentation, e.g. filing, QA etc.
•Responsible for meeting agreed deadlines.

•Qualified candidates must be highly motivated, proactive and willing to take on new challenges.
•Experience in one or a combination of the following skills: theatre planning and programming, theatre equipment design for performing arts buildings, performance lighting and systems design, performance rigging and stage machinery systems design, theatre performance sound, video and communication system design.
•Ability to use 3D design tools such as Revit, Vectorworks, Rhino, WYSIWYG
