Lighting Consultant


Lighting Consultant position available (New York, NY)

• Perform lighting consulting for architectural designs;
• Create lighting designs, including architectural lighting and daylighting designs, and prepare scaled drawings with computer software or by hand;
• Provide core environmental and sustainability input for a broad range of projects, as well as participate in meetings with clients to determine lighting objectives;
• Produce design concepts, lighting designs, sketches, graphical output drawings, specifications, artwork designs, design reports, and lighting calculations;
• Produce extensive specifications and technical reports, communicate with clients to establish their needs throughout the project lifecycle, and seek new work by supporting marketing efforts and giving presentations;
• Develop lighting concepts, solutions, documentation, and installation oversight;
• Establish design requirements from established standards, interacting, and collaborating with clients including architects toward aesthetic intent of electric lighting and advice and concepts for daylight;
• Collaborate with clients and the team on complex and specialized solutions and design ideas, researching product capabilities, and calculating performance of possible solutions;
• Sketch and draw for coordination and documentation of solutions including fixtures and controls, creating specifications and technical drawings for construction contracts, and reviewing contractor submittals and questions during construction; and,
• Work with contractor to aim lighting fixtures and provide check-list post construction to ensure the quality of the delivered space;
• Requires Bachelor's degree plus 2 years of experience.
