Project Manager

A project focused role to lead the engineering team responsible for the detailed engineering design and construction support of a concrete gravity substructure (CGS) to support a fixed offshore drilling installation on the Grand Banks, east coast Canada in the North Atlantic Ocean.  The engineering team is respoisible for final design of 70,000 m3 140 metre high heavily reinforced and prestressed concrete precast structure fitted out with significant mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and controls facilities.
The Project Manager has execution responsibility for the engineering deliverables and management of the design and site inspection team.  The role includes  include management of the execution of the engineering work scope to identify, define, evaluate, screen and recommend a efficient and compliant CGS design solution that takes into account specific client development objectives.

• Assuring that the design is in accordance with all applicable client standards and industry codes;
• Assuring that the design can be constructed in a safe, efficient and economic manner; 
• Achieving the required quality as defined in the project documents;
• Ensuring an effective and proactive change management system is implemented on the project, and that changes are approved in a timely manner and as required in the prime contract, and then incorporated in the project documents;
• Controlling and forecasting project costs;
• Meeting schedule requirements in a safe manner in compliance with health and environmental requirements;
• Maintaining effective communications and relations with Arup’s client throughout the life of the project;
• Supporting the development of project personnel, and recognizing the accomplishments of individuals and the project team; and
• Delivering Arup’s commitments in accordance with the project documents.

• Will have significant experience in the design and construction of civil-structures or heavy infrastructure for the energy sector.
• Will have experience in the management of design or construction support teams on large, multi-disciplinary construction projects, particularly in the onshore or offshore oil & gas industry or heavy industrial sector.
• Will have the ability to guide junior and senior engineers to reach technically appropriate conclusions in a timely manner based on information available to the team to complete a coordinated design.
• Will have excellent verbal and written communication and managerial skills.
