Our Boston office is looking to add a Senior Mechanical Engineer to our multi-disciplinary team. We are looking for an exceptional candidate who can grow into a leadership role. We unite a global network of inventive and highly skilled building engineers and design specialists. Together, we are best known for helping to shape ambitious buildings. But while our most recognizable work is in complex, groundbreaking structures, many of which Arup's input made possible, it is better building performance that drives us.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Mechanical engineering project team leadership from conceptual design through construction administration  
  • Supervising, mentoring and training of junior staff on a variety of projects such as Commercial, Academic, Hospitals, and Laboratories
  • Coordinating with multiple disciplines and acting as project manager to ensure projects are delivered within budget and schedule
  • Business development and proposal preparation in conjunction with the senior leadership of the office
  • Writing reports for internal and external purposes based on findings
  • Presenting technical material in traditional and innovative ways for review by technical and non-technical audiences
  • Understanding trends and standard methodologies in the markets in which we work
  • Participating in local Professional Associations
  • Responsible for quality standards, commercial metrics, and client relations for projects
  • Teaching teams to connect their solutions to bigger picture issues
  • Delivering timely feedback and recognition to others

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Architectural Engineering
  • 8 or more years of professional experience designing building HVAC systems, including airside and hydronic system components
  • Professional Engineering License in US 
  • Engineering analysis and energy modeling experience including whole building energy analysis, façade thermal analysis, and airflow modeling
  • The ability to prioritize effectively, balance assigned work and exceptional organization skills required for our constantly evolving environment
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills essential for team-based working
  • Presentation skills with colleagues and clients of all levels

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Mechanical or Architectural Engineering
  • LEED Accreditation or WELL Certification
  • Experience with Revit
