The San Francisco office is looking for a Structural Leader at the Principal or Associate Principal level that will supplement the current Structural Group Leadership Team. You will report to the Buildings Leader. We're interested in a person who is a recognized business leader in their market. In the Bay Area market you will need to develop strong client relationships that lead to new work and can lead project teams to achieve technical and commercial success for Arup.
The Structural Leader responsibilities include:
Develop market plans and strategy for winning work and develop client relationships
Ensure that Arup competes through a deep understanding of external market conditions
Develop understanding of office technical strengths build new relationships and avenues of work based on these strengths
Manage the design and management of complex projects
Connect often with clients to keep them informed, seek feedback, listen to complaints and praise, and manage expectations.
Manage technical and financial performance of project delivery teams as part of the office management team, including procuring and negotiating major contracts and leading our internal bid review process.
Oversee the recruitment, performance, development, and morale of staff
Identify gaps and recommend enhancements related to structural group, technology, processes, and services based on a broad view of the organization.
Collaborate with SF office inter-disciplinary technical leaders and build internal links that enables the ability to cross-sell Arup services.
- Partner with and contribute to regional structural skills activities as well as non-market specific San Francisco office market/business activities
Structural Leader Qualifications:
15+ years' experience in structural engineering of buildings
Sound knowledge of structural and seismic engineering fundamentals.
Recognized business leader in their market
Relationships with global clients and US clients outside of the Bay Area would be well regarded.
Licensed structural engineer
Involvement in industry group would be well regarded
Energetic, passionate and inspirational leader, with people and management skills
A solid track record in business development with relationship building skills
A strategic and innovative thinker with high-level strategic planning and a keen intellect to quickly understand the business and its potential
- Strong commercial experience and financial skills required
